When Scott Pioli came over from New England to become the General Manager of the Chiefs, he thought he was out-smarting everyone in the NFL by reaching for Jackson with the third overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. That was followed by Jackson being signed to a five-year, $57 million contract with $31 million guaranteed. But that turned out to be compounding a bad decision with a bad contract.

Pioli thought he was getting a player who would be the “Richard Seymour” prototype for the Chiefs. Instead, Jackson played five seasons with the Chiefs but only accrued nine sacks and 137 solo tackles. In other words, he shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same name as Seymour nor should he have received that type of contract.
