Outside of tight end Antonio Gates, Philip Rivers has never had that one longtime receiving partner, so with the Chargers, we had to give the nod to Fouts and Joiner. These two spent 11 seasons playing together, and for much of that time, the chemistry between the two was undeniable.

From 1979 to 1982, Fouts led the NFL in passing yards every season, not to mention touchdown passes in three of those four seasons. For three of those seasons, Joiner had over 1,000 yards receiving and a healthy touchdown total, giving him two Pro Bowl invitations during that span. It was another classic symbiotic relationship between quarterback and receiver.
