By today’s standards, a four-year, $23 million contract isn’t so bad. But the Texans thought they were getting a special player when they gave Green that deal in 2007. At the time, Houston was desperate to solve its backfield problems and believed that Green was the answer.

However, Green only ended up playing 14 games for the Texans over two seasons before being released. He barely totaled 500 total yards in those games and scored five touchdowns. It wasn’t the biggest waste of money of all time, although the Texans surely felt foolish for giving Green that much green and cutting ties halfway into that four-year deal.
