Jeff Garcia
For the most part, Garcia is remembered as someone who had a great career in the CFL and later found success in the NFL, mostly with the 49ers. But he also signed a truly dreadful contract worth $25 million over four years in 2004. Obviously, Garcia’s not at fault for signing that contract. The blame rests with the Browns, who are accustomed to bad decisions.
Even though Garcia struggled during his final year in San Francisco, the Browns thought he was finally the answer to their problems. But Garcia proceeded to have the worst season of his career while battling injuries. Despite giving him a four-year deal, the Browns released Garcia after one season. He eventually rediscovered what made him a good quarterback, even going back to the Pro Bowl in 2007, just not while playing in Cleveland.
