David Carr, Fresno State
David Carr was an absolute stud during his senior season at Fresno State. While he played in a smaller conference, he racked up over 4,800 yards passing while throwing 46 touchdowns to just nine interceptions. It was enough to finish fifth in the Heisman voting and convince the Texans to make him the first draft pick in franchise history.
However, Carr spent his first few seasons taking a merciless beating from opposing defenses, finishing his career with 65 touchdowns passes and 71 interceptions. There were many whispers that Carr simply absorbed too much punishment early on, leading to his love of the game literally being beaten out of him. Carr now serves as the offensive coordinator at the Bakersfield high school where his young brother Darren is the head coach. He’s also known as the older brother of Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.
