Joe Kleine
In the “it’s all about the Championship rings” culture of NBA fans, how are we supposed to look back at the career of Joe Kleine? On one hand, Kleine was selected with the 6th overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft; the next three guys picked after him were Chris Mullin (Hall of Famer), Detlef Schrempf (three-time All-Star), and Charles Oakley (the legendary enforcer who was a two-time NBA All-Defensive team selection). And that’s not even mentioning the fact that Karl Malone and Joe Dumars — two more Hall of Fame players — were also taken later on in that same first round. And yet, Kleine can say he accomplished something that two of those three Hall of Fame players (Malone and Mullin) never did: winning an NBA title (Kleine was a reserve on the 1998 Chicago Bulls team).
