13. New England Patriots – Trading Away Defensive End Chandler Jones

The New England Patriots thought they were being sneaky by trading high on Chandler Jones after his 12.5 sacks in 2015. However, Jones amassed 11 sacks and four forced fumbles for the Cardinals in 2016. He then signed an extension with Arizona and put together his best season yet in 2017, leading the NFL with 17 sacks.

At age 28 years old, Jones should have plenty of good years ahead of them, but they won’t be coming in New England (who now desperately needs a pass rusher).

my vikings sure screwed up with walker… but there was no saying that all those players would have been selected to the vikings. it was bad, but to me, giving away brett favre was the worst. 17 years of being a contender through just one guy is pretty impressive. in magnitude through, all have to agree that tom brady being the last guy taken… all 32 teams screwed up 4 or 5 times on that one. as far as coaching goes, idr his name, but that guy for philly in 90’s was unbelievably bad. same with mike tice for the vikings, in the 2000’s. nepotism at its worst`

Vikings trade for Herschel Walker that should have been #1. Vikings received Walker plus 2 3rd round picks, a 10th round pick. Dallas received a 1st, 2nd and 6th round picks and 5 players but the biggest draw was the 5 players Dallas received. If Dallas were to cut those players then the Vikings would compensate Dallas with additional draft picks.
Vikings GM Mike Lynn persuaded Dallas to keep some of the players and still keep the conditional draft picks associated with it so at the end Dallas received 3 1st round picks, 3 2nd round picks and a 6th round pick. With those picks Dallas used it to get Emmitt Smith, Darren Woodson, Russell Maryland, among others. We all know what Dallas did in the ’90’s.

Alonso did tear his ACL with the eagles.

How about the Raiders taking Jamarcus Russell for their #1 pick ????
What a BUST !!!!!!!!!!!
😛

The article is about bad trades, not draft picks. But I agree with you Russell was a total bust.
Terrence Faust says
Mack wasn’t coming in and refused to speak to the Raider management. Why doesn’t he come clean with his position to the media. Has he been interviewed? I’ve not heard or read of his position.

Can we change the Redskins trade to acquiring Alex Smith for Kendall Fuller and a 3rd round pick?
Lance says
How about the Rams letting Kurt Warner go?
Redskinrex says
Porits???? Are you kidding? Yes, it was a bad trade, but nearly as costly as what was given up to get RGIII… or even Alex Smith for Kendal Fuller.

22. Detroit Lions – Acquiring Defensive End Pat Swilling.
The Saints drafted Willie Road. NOT! Typo! Roaf.

Yeah, well trading Greg Olson to Carolina has got to rank about a 9.7 on the Stupid-S#!t-O-Meter IMHO. The guy was the best tight end Chicago had seen since Ditka and they basically gave him away. Cutler may have been a lateral trade at best (given that Orton consistently put up better numbers and QB ratings than Cutler did), but Olso was just a flat out GIFT to Carolina. But then, stupidity was one of the Bears primary management tools in the Mike Martz era…

Don’t forget about Rick Mirer…

I would point out that Lynch wanted to be traded, Buffalo had other options, Lynch had regular off the field troubles, he was injured, and he was far from a suret hing.
