14. Minnesota Vikings – Acquiring Herschel Walker From The Dallas Cowboys
Once dubbed “The Great Train Robbery” by the scribes in Dallas, everyone thought Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson had lost his mind when he traded away running back Herschel Walker, who was easily the best player on a decrepit Cowboys team.
But Johnson shrewdly acquired Walker for a package of players, with an assigned draft pick value if those players were released by the Cowboys. Naturally, Johnson quickly released every player he acquired from Minnesota, using all those extra draft picks to move around the NFL draft and build the great 1990’s Cowboys dynasty that won three Super Bowls.
