When Rich Brooks became head coach of the then-St. Louis Rams in 1995, he not only phased out Jerome Bettis from the offense, but basically gave Bettis an ultimatum: either switch to fullback, or find a new NFL home. Bettis chose the latter, and was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a second and fourth round pick.

After being traded to Pittsburgh, Bettis was named to the Pro Bowl three times, ran for more than 1,000 yards his first six seasons there, and helped the Steelers eventually win a Super Bowl. In 2015, Bettis was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
