The 14th pick in the 1994 NBA Draft (taken one spot after Jalen Rose from the University of Michigan), Yinka Dare stood just under 7-foot-2, and was accidentally discovered by an attorney in his homeland of Nigeria. But Dare’s NBA career was short lived, as he played only four seasons in the NBA (and a handful more in the now-defunct Continental Basketball Association and United States Basketball League).

But one year after retiring from professional basketball, Dare collapsed in his home in New Jersey, and died as a result of that collapse. A medical examiner determined that he had suffered a heart attack due to an arrhythmia condition discovered when he was in college at George Washington University.
