New England Patriots — Cyrus Jones (2016):
A cornerback like Cyrus Jones was an afterthought to most people inside and outside of New England, especially considering the Patriots didn’t even select Jones until the 60th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft (which happened to be their top pick in that year’s draft). But you have to think that a cornerback cultivated by University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban — a former protege of Bill Belichick — would’ve turned out to be a great selection for the Patriots.
Instead, Jones was basically a healthy scratch for his entire rookie season in New England, and suffered a season-ending ACL and torn meniscus before the start of his second season. Just over two years after drafting Jones, the Patriots released him.
