Kobe Bryant is right up there with Michael Jordan, as the two most homicidally focused and competitive players in the history of the NBA. Bryant truly believed he was not only destined to be great, but simply couldn’t exist in a situation where he wasn’t the alpha dog of his team. This obviously didn’t sit well with Shaquille O’Neal, who was brought to Los Angeles to be the next great superstar of the franchise. O’Neal, along with many of his teammates, despised Bryant for his arrogance. Bryant despised O’Neal for his lack of conditioning and “happy-go-lucky” approach to basketball. The relationship got to the point where the two players simply could not co-exist with each other, leading the Lakers to trade O’Neal to the Miami Heat.
