Dan Gilbert vs. LeBron James

Few people will question the fact that the way LeBron James went about his first departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010, culminating in the tone-deaf and narcissistic production of “The Decision,” was just a bad way to go about things. But the reaction by Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, wasn’t much better, either. His description of James departure as “cowardly betrayal,” as part of a letter that was published using comic sans font, came off as a brash, petulant, and immature reaction to an otherwise immature sequence of actions taken by James. Even though James has returned to Cleveland and brought the organization — and Gilbert — a championship ring, the relationship between both individuals remains very strained.
