Most people forget the fact that if Matt Leinart declared for the 2005 NFL Draft, the year after winning the Heisman Trophy, he likely would’ve been the #1 overall pick in that draft, ahead of Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers. But the Arizona Cardinals took Leinart with the 10th overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Leinart also suffered from the combination of injury issues, and spending too much time enjoying the Phoenix-area nightlife scene. In 2008, Leinart was supplanted as the starter by Kurt Warner, who ended up taking the Cardinals to the Super Bowl.
