Patrick Ramsey, Washington Redskins, 2002

Even though Patrick Ramsey likely wasn’t the preference of “ole ball coach” Steve Spurrier, the Redskins took Patrick Ramsey with the last-pick of the 1st-round in the 2002 NFL Draft (which ended up being quite ill-fated for the quarterbacks in the first round). After Spurrier failed trying to use his college retreads — like Shane Matthews and Danny Wuerffel — under center, he (begrudgingly) turned to Ramsey.

Ramsey took a beating in Spurrier’s scheme, and eventually became gun-shy himself. The Redskins replaced Ramsey with veteran Mark Brunell in 2004, and then again in 2005, and then released Ramsey before the 2006 season.
