Eddie George was the perfect example of the “old school” of NFL football, back when a running backs consistently used to get 25 to 30 carries a game. In five of his eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans, George carried the ball over 330 times. But George, like everyone else, was only human, and that workload eventually took its toll on him. In 2001, George started dealing with nagging injuries to his foot, and averaged just 2.98 per carry — the fourth lowest number in league history among running backs with more than 200 rushing attempts in a season. His five touchdowns, at that time, was tied for the lowest total of his career as well.
