
There was once a time when teams considered the running back position to be as important as the quarterback position. How else would you explain the boatload of draft picks that the Minnesota Vikings gave up to acquire Herschel Walker, or that someone like Ki-Jana Carter would end up being the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft? But as the league has transitioned to more of a pass-happy style, running backs have become much more of a commodity. You’ll still see some great running backs in the league, but the position has become so much more interchangeable and expendable.
