New Orleans Saints’ fans will always be grateful for the fact that Aaron Brooks helped the team to their first-ever home playoff win in 2000. But in the five ensuing seasons after that, the Saints failed to make the playoffs again with Brooks as the starter.

In 2005, Brooks went 3-10 in 13 games as the starter, with 13 touchdowns but 17 interceptions, leading to New Orleans benching him for the forgettable Todd Bouman. That 3-13 season, in which Brooks started 13 of the 16 games, ultimately ushered in the hiring of Sean Payton and the signing of Drew Brees.
