#22. Detroit Lions, Charlie Batch (2001)
Among the numerous mistakes made during the reign of Matt Millen in Detroit was submarining the career of quarterback Charlie Batch before it even started. In 2001, coming off a promising rookie season, Batch and new head coach Marty Mornhinweg simply couldn’t get on the same page.
In nine games as a starter, Batch threw 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, but more importantly, went 0-9 as a starter and lost his job to backup Ty Detmer. Just two seasons after being drafted, the Lions — or Millen, to be more specific — released Batch.
