2018: Nathan Peterman, Buffalo Bills
There’s a good chance that, when we look back at things a few decades from now, we could very well be anointing Nathan Peterman as the worst NFL quarterback to make multiple starts since the turn of the century. In Peterman’s rookie season (2017), he threw 5 interceptions — on just 14 passing attempts — in his first NFL start; such ineptitude was foreshadowing things to come.
Playing in four games (and starting three of them) for the Buffalo Bills in 2018, Peterman threw 7 interceptions on 81 total passing attempts. His attempt-to-interception ratio of 8.6% was the highest of any quarterback in the NFL who threw more than 7 passing attempts. In his two starts in 2018, he averaged 1.33 and 3.84 yards per attempt in said games — averages that unfathomably low for an NFL quarterback.
