If you need any further proof that James Dolan is not only the worst owner in the NBA, but likely the worst owner in professional sports, look no further than his handling of the New York Knicks’ pursuit of Kevin Durant during the summer of 2019.

After making it all but public that the Knicks intended to pursue Durant if he became a free agent in 2019, once Durant opted out of his contract, the Knicks were the only team who refused to offer Durant a “maximum” contract, citing reluctance around his torn Achilles’ tendon injury.
That fake reluctance represented yet another gross miscalculation by Dolan, as he and Knicks fans will now have to suffer through the humiliation of watching Durant play for the cross-town Brooklyn Nets.
