The New York Knicks Trade For Andrea Bargnani (2013)
Coming off a 54-win season and a trip to the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs (the furthest they’d been in 13 years), the New York Knicks inexplicably decided the missing piece to their championship was forward Andrea Bargnani, who was a huge draft bust for the Toronto Raptors. The Knicks traded Marcus Camby, Steve Novak, their 2016 first-round pick, and two future second-round picks for him Bargnani.
Everyone knew it was a disaster at the time; the Raptors couldn’t get out from Bargnani’s contract fast enough, as he slogged through injury problems and lousy play while on the court. Instead of getting even further in the playoffs, the Knicks finished with sub-.500 records the next two seasons before letting Bargnani walk in free agency.
