Lots of times, when you’re at a bar and BS’ing with your friends about how you could do a better job running your favorite NBA team than the current General Manager in place (based off some of the highly suspect moves orchestrated by said GM), you might have a point.
For every Red Auerbach or Jerry West or RC Buford, there are hordes of GM’s who have run teams, and turned their team’s personnel situation into unmitigated disasters because of the disastrous decisions made in the off-season. Some of them look horrible with the benefit of hindsight, but many of them were cringe-worthy from the moment they took place.
In “celebration” of these bad deals, and as we enter the prime of the NBA’s “Hot Stove League,” here is a look at some of the worst moves made by NBA teams during the off-season.
