27. Tre’Davious White, Buffalo Bills
What Was Said At the Time: “Full-time starter for better part of four years and one of the premier mirror-and-match cornerbacks in the game. Has the feet, athleticism and instincts for prolonged coverage responsibilities and his twitch will always have him near the throw. Best suited for all forms of man coverage. Should compete as special teams performer. Lacks run-support physicality to be an every-down corner, but he’s talented enough to challenge for slot duties right away.” -Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
Measurables: 5-11, 192 lbs
Where White is now.
After the Bills traded down, giving up the spot that the Chiefs used to draft Mahomes, they took White with Kansas City’s original draft slot. In hindsight, Buffalo surely would have taken Mahomes and solved their long-running quarterback issues. But White has turned out to be a nice selection. He made the all-rookie team in 2017 and was a finalist for Defensive Rookie of the Year, getting beat out by Marshon Lattimore.
In fact, of the four cornerbacks drafted before White, it’s easy to argue that White has outplayed all of them other than Lattimore over the first two years of his career. Nevertheless, the Bills would give just about anything to go back in time and take Mahomes at no. 10 rather than trade the pick.
