Yi Jianlian (China)
No one in the history of the NBA has ever looked more impressive against a chair. Yi Jianlian was all the rage heading into the 2007 draft, so much so that Time magazine did a feature article on Yi, calling him the next Yao Ming.
Scouting has come a long way, but we didn’t have much footage for many international players in 2007, and one of the most infamous draft videos of all time featured Yi Jianlian absolutely schooling a chair in the post.
It turns out NBA players are a little more difficult to get around. Chairman Yi was drafted sixth by the Milwaukee Bucks and actually averaged 12 points and 7 boards his junior season for the Nets. If you find that hard to believe, you’ll never believe this — you’ve never seen a grainy internet video of Yi working out against the chair. It turns out it may have never even existed.
