When Chris Paul joined the Houston Rockets in the 2017 offseason, everyone knew his goal was to join James Harden to try and dethrone the Golden State Warriors. And in the 2018 NBA Playoffs, there were plenty of people who would say that if Paul was available for Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, the Rockets would’ve advanced to the NBA Finals (by beating the Warriors).

The legitimacy of that statement now has to be questioned, considering the Rockets again failed to get past the Warriors in the 2019 Western Conference playoffs. So while Paul will go down as one of the greatest point guards of both the modern era, as well as in NBA history overall, it feels all but certain he’ll finish his career without a ring.
