Best: Pittsburgh Steelers – Joe Greene
Mean Joe Greene is the foundation on which Chuck Noll was able to build a successful franchise. Before the two men came to Pittsburgh, the Steelers were a pitiful, losing organization. That all changed when the “Steel Curtain” defense was built around Greene. He was named Defensive Rookie of the Year, and later twice named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year. During his time in Pittsburgh, the Steelers would win 4 Super Bowl trophies. He was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987.
Worst: Pittsburgh Steelers – Limas Sweed
Limas Sweed joined the Pittsburgh Steelers during a time when the team was on a roll. Ben Roethlisberger had established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the league and the team gathered weapons for him to use. Sweed should have been one of those. At 6’4’ and 220 pounds, Sweed was a big, physical receiver. Sweed was often injured, but couldn’t catch the ball even when he was on the field. He was cut in 2011 but was a passenger on the 2008 Super Bowl-winning team.
