Best: Minnesota Vikings – Fran Tarkenton
Fran Tarkenton started his career in Minnesota for the expansion Vikings. Like most expansion teams, the Vikings struggled mighty, and so did Tarkenton. He was dealt to the New York Giants, where he could develop as a quarterback. After a few seasons in New York, Tarkenton was traded back to the Vikings where he would lead the Purple People Eaters to three Super Bowls, losing them all. When he retired, he led the NFL in career passing yards, touchdowns, and interceptions.
Worst: Minnesota Vikings – Troy Williamson
Troy Williamson was the next big thing at wide receiver. He was incredibly fast, running a 4.3 40-yard dash at the combine, and he was big at 6’2” and 203 pounds. He was just the weapon the Vikings needed after trading Randy Moss to the Raiders. Just one problem, Williamson couldn’t catch the ball. Williamson was second in the league with 11 drops his rookie season, and his struggles continued into his second season as well. He was traded the following year for a 6th round pick.
