Best: Denver Broncos – John Elway
John Elway would have a place in history next to Dan Marino as one of the greatest players to never win it all. Finally, in his final two seasons in the league, Elway was able to take the Broncos to the promised land. Through 16 seasons at Mile High, Elway earned every accolade possible. 9 Pro Bowl trips, All-Pro nominations, the 1987 NFL MVP Award, but most importantly, those two Super Bowls in 1997 and 1998.
Worst: Denver Broncos – Paxton Lynch
The legacy of John Elway is tarnished by one thing, his inability as an executive to find a franchise quarterback. Paxton Lynch is a perfect example of that. Drafted in the first round by the Broncos because of his “prototypical” NFL quarterback size. This completely ignored the fact that he played his college ball at Memphis, and only played three seasons. Maybe Lynch should have stayed in school because he was completely over-matched by the speed of the NFL game. In two seasons with the Broncos, he made just 4 starts, throwing 4 touchdowns and four interceptions.
