Why is this obvious rip off of Nike’s Air Force 1’s making the list of most influential sneakers? It makes the list because of what they did with it. Nigo copied the pattern but covered it in patent leather and went wild with exotic colors and prints.
The result was such a phenomenon that Nike was forced to do the same with the Air Force 1. Essentially, The Bathing Ape pushed the popularity of the Air Force 1 and made it the highest-selling Nike sneaker of all-time. You’re welcome.
