12. Nike Air More Uptempo
These are one of the most recognizable shoes from the entire 1990’s. Obviously, these stand out because of the giant word “AIR” on the side pane of them, but that alone does not make the shoe.
The Uptempo has a full-length Air Max unit underneath, which is pretty cool. If you weren’t convinced of their greatness, these were the shoes worn by the greatest wingman of all-time, Scottie Pippen. That’s right, none of Jordan’s titles would have been possible without Pippen, and these shoes helped make it happen.
11. Nike Air Max 2011
These are some of the most modern entries on this list, but for obvious reason, they are incredible. These feature a full-length “uncaged” air unit and Nike’s Hyperfuse technology. The upper has a cool trellis-style design that looks like the supports on a bridge.
These are unquestionably the best Air Max running shoe Nike has produced. They are so lightweight, and breathable you will not even know you’re wearing shoes while you’re running. And if you have to run, that’s the feeling you want.
10. Nike Air Griffey Max I
When Nike and Ken Griffey Jr. came together in 1996, the onus was on Nike to put out a shoe that would properly represent the slugger. Remember, Griffey combined speed and strength in a way that baseball hadn’t seen for a long time.
Into the box steps the Air Griffey Max I, the perfect embodiment of Griffey and his playing style. They were a bit chunky, but you knew you were going to get the comfort and support you needed from these shoes. Hey, if Ken Griffey Jr. was going to stand around in them all day while at the ballpark, then they’d be good enough for you too.
