18. Nike Air Max 93 (Air Max 270)
These 93’s were originally known as the Air Max 270 because of the impressive 270-degree air unit. That degree range means that you’re going to get more air and greater protection. While we’re focused on the air unit, these were first Air Max’s with a colored air unit.
Another cool thing about these is that the shoe was manufactured through a new process called “blow-molding”. The process injects gas through an external tube so that the plastic can be formed into a mold. Nike, as always, was seeking new frontiers with their shoes.
17. Nike Air Max TN (Air Max Plus)
The Nike Air Max TN took the idea of two different PSI pods of the Air Max 96’s into overdrive. These were running shoes that utilized a system of individual pods that were tuned to different areas of the foot. Each pod had a different PSI for what that part of the foot needed.
These shoes were cool beyond that. Once again, the gradient design appeared on the upper and they had a molded plastic toe guard at the front. Whether you were running on a track, on the road, or in the woods, these shoes took care of you.
16. Nike Air Griffey Max II
These were not the first Griffey shoes in the Air Max line, but they were the first to feature the Air Max cushioning all the over the shoe. They were also the first to display the Swingman logo. That swing. Boy was it fun to watch when he connected with a fastball.
You thought The Kid was big before the Air Griffey II came out, his popularity went through the roof after these launched. Everyone had to have a pair.
