Jeff George
As a pure passer, Jeff George was one of the most gifted prospects of his generation. There was good reason he was the #1 overall pick in the 1990 NFL draft. The problem was, there was also good reason he bounced around eight different NFL teams over his 14 year career. For as gifted a passer as he was, nearly everyone around him felt he relied far too much on his physical gifts alone, and never wanted to put in the work to be a leader.
Throughout his disappointing NFL career George constantly fought with teammates and coaches who repeatedly criticized him for his bad attitude and lack of effort. According to one coach who spent a few seasons with George, “Let’s just say, nobody was all that sad to see him go. He was probably the least likeable guy I’ve coached in my 35 years in the NFL.”
