12) Cal Ripken Jr. beat up Kevin Costner because Costner slept with his wife
Cal Ripken Jr., nicknamed “The Iron Man,” is best known for breaking Lou Gehrig’s “unbreakable” streak of consecutive games played. Gehrig’s streak of 2,130 games stood for 56 years until Ripken surpassed him in 1995 — setting his own streak of 2,632 consecutive games played. To put that into perspective, Cal Ripken Jr. played in every single game for almost 17 straight seasons! There’s no denying how difficult this must have been. Throughout the streak Ripken dealt with painful injuries and illnesses — but if the rumor is true — his most challenging obstacle was an affair between his wife and one of his best friends!
Actor Kevin Costner was a close friend of Ripken in the 1990’s. As the rumor goes, Ripken walked in on Costner with his wife while the actor was staying at the Ripken’s house. As most men would, Ripken proceeded to kick the crap out of Costner. After opening up a can of whoop-ass on Costner, Ripken disappeared. The only issue is that Ripken was close to breaking Gehrig’s streak! In a panic, the Baltimore Orioles cancelled the night’s game, claiming their was a power outage at the ballpark. Both have denied the story to the media, but it’s unlikely either would want to admit it, even if it were true.
