As you would imagine, an airport in New Orleans would be on some pretty low ground. In fact, it has the second-lowest elevation of any airport in the world, at just 4.5 feet above sea level. Only Amsterdam’s Airport Schiphol is lower and is actually 11 feet below sea level. Crazy!

Unfortunately for this airport, its ratings are as low as it’s elevation. This reviewer sums it up by saying, “It’s brand new and already dirty. The employees are not friendly. It just reminds me of why New Orleans is and will always be a third-rate city. Sad.” Somewhere Satchmo is playing a sad tune for the state of his namesake.
