A little-discussed running back from Iowa State University, running back Trody Davis became the first and only NCAA Division I-A running back to rush for over 2,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. He actually finished in the top five of voting for the Heisman Trophy in back-to-back seasons, including finishing as the runner up in 1996 to Danny Wuerffel.

In the 1997 NFL Draft, Davis was selected in the third round by the New Orleans Saints. However, in three seasons in New Orleans, he had only 150 attempts. From there, Davis bounced from the now-defunct XFL to the Canadian Football League (CFL), playing eight more seasons north of the border.
