It may surprise you that Billy Idol’s birth name was not Billy Idol. But he adopted the moniker as a play on words when a schoolteacher once described him as “idle.” The name worked and Idol became one of the faces of the 1970s London punk scene with his band Generation X.

The 80s brought solo success for Idol and he released his hit singles White Wedding and Rebel Yell during this time. After spending much of the 1990s out of the industry, Idol released 2 albums in the 200s, with the most recent coming in 2014. Once a punk, always a punk – even in your 60s.
