Justise Winslow, Miami Heat (2015)
It’s been widely reported that Danny Ainge, General Manager of the Boston Celtics, was willing to trade a package comprising four first round picks in order to move up in the 2015 NBA Draft to grab Justise Winslow from Duke University. Sometimes, it’s better to be lucky than good. The Miami Heat went ahead and selected Winslow with the 11th overall pick in that draft, and probably would’ve rather had the draft picks in hindsight.
In three seasons in the NBA, Winslow has never played all 2 games, and never averaged more than 11 points per game. Ironically enough, reports emerged that Miami was willing to trade away Winslow during the 2018 NBA Draft, in order to move up in the draft order.
