Jahlil Okafor, Philadelphia 76ers (2015)
If you were wondering why so many people had question about Marvin Bagley III in the 2018 NBA Draft, the reason was because many feared he might be a “Jahlil Okafor redux:” a big man with rare offensive skill, but couldn’t play a lick of defense if his life depended on it. The 3rd overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2015 NBA Draft (one spot before Kristaps Porzingis was taken),
Okafor immediately showed off his “empty stats on a bad team’ tendencies, averaging 17.3 ppg for a team that won 28 games his rookie year. Okafor”s total lack of defense plus issues with maturity led to Philadelphia doing whatever they could to trade him; they eventually did so in December of 2017, for reserve Trevor Booker (who’s not even with the 76ers anymore).
