Jakob Pöltl, Toronto Raptors (2016)
You’d think that after taking guys like Jonas Valanciunas and Bruno Caboclo, the Toronto Raptors would stop selecting developmental big men with their top draft pick. But, you’d be wrong. In a draft that pretty much fell off a cliff after the first seven picks, the Raptors took Pöltl with the ninth overall pick, making Pöltl the first ever Austrian to be drafted to the NBA.
That’s about the only thing distinguished about Pöltl’s career to date. Past that, in two seasons, he has started only four games, and averaged a total of 5.4 points per game for his career. Despite being seven feet tall, he’s averaged less than five rebounds per game in his career.
