7. Jameis Winston (2013)
For all the things he accomplished in his two years as the starting quarterback of the Florida State Seminoles, Jameis Winston can be credited for helping get the once-proud school back amongst the elite college football programs in the nation.
One of a number of prized recruits that former head coach Jimbo Fisher brought to Tallahassee, Winston redshirted his first season behind future NFL quarterback EJ Manuel, and then came out roaring during his first year as a starter when he went 25 for 27 with four touchdown passes in the Seminoles’ season-opening win against the University of Pittsburgh. He finished that first year with 4,057 yards passing and 40 touchdown passes, leading to him receiving over 79% of the first-place votes in the 2013 Heisman Trophy race.
