Whether Chris Weinke doesn’t get the full credit he deserves because of his stint playing baseball, or because he was a member of the talent-rich teams assembled by legendary Florida State University coach Bobby Bowden, is debatable. But the fact remains that Weinke led the country in passing with 4,167 yards in 2000, en route to leading the Seminoles to their third-straight National Championship appearance.

Weinke helped the ‘Noles win the title over the upstart Virginia Tech Hokies the year prior, but he and Florida State came up short in 2000 when they lost to Bob Stoops and the University of Oklahoma. In two years as Florida State’s starter, however, Weinke compiled a 32-3 record.
