Two times per a year, Phoenix International Raceway hosts NASCAR, and each time the contest gets a bit heated. Track temperatures rise at rates only equaled by the tempers of its drivers. Often you’ll see helmets or water bottles thrown from driver to driver, as someone has been insulted.

Phoenix stands out not only because of the heat, but also because of its dimensions. The track is only one mile long and is a D-shaped oval. It is literally considered a “short track” by NASCAR standards.
