The coming out party for Homestead Miami Speedway (HMS) happened in 2003 when they switched the track from a flat track to a track with progressive banking. Suddenly the races became interesting, and HMS is now hosts the season ending race.

The racetrack was built in the late 90’s to capture the interests of the Latino community in South Florida. But, like most sports franchises have discovered, there is just too much to do in sunny Miami and attendance has sagged.
