The beagle is a very old dog that its origins can’t be traced any more, although their name means “loudmouth” in French. Queen Elizabeth II is famous for her corgis, but Queen Elizabeth I loved her beagles.

These dogs are the hunting dogs you see in paintings, used to chase foxes and other small game. Beagles LOVE to follow scent, and that’s why you see them in airports as police dogs, and you need a fence and a leash if you have them!
