The 1986 Gatorade and USA Today player of the year, J.R. Reid was an NBA big man that was built more like an NFL defensive lineman, so much so that he attracted attention from college football programs because of his prowess on the gridiron.

But while playing hoops at Chapel Hill, Reid earned ACC Rookie of the Year honors asa freshman, and consensus first-team All-American honors a year later. The 5th overall pick of the 1989 NBA Draft would go on to play 14 seasons in the NBA, but he averaged less than 10 points per game in 11 of those 14 seasons.
