Despite the fact that an entire industry has cropped up around the NFL Draft, it’s still largely a crapshoot. Yes, teams have more data, interviews, and information on players than ever, but the draft is still just an educated guess on who will be good and who won’t be.
The year 2020 sucked. It was the first time in over 100 years that the human race has had to endure a global pandemic. Despite this, some parts of our lives carried on like normal. Thankfully one of those things was the NFL. We’ve taken the liberty of redrafting the 2020 NFL Draft, with the benefit of hindsight. Flip through the slides and see who got it right, and who should have picked differently.
Without further delay, the Cincinnati Bengals are on the clock…
1. Cincinnati Bengals – Original Pick: Joe Burrow
Joe Burrow was a no-brainer for the Bengals coming into this draft. The former LSU gunslinger had debatably the best college football season of all-time, winning the National Championship and the Heisman trophy with relative ease. The Bengals had a glaring need at QB and with the #1 overall pick, Burrow was the obvious selection.
Burrow’s first NFL season came to an unfortunate end after suffering a season ending knee injury in Week 11. Burrow was the front-runner for Rookie of the Year, with Justin Herbert close behind. In 10 games as a rookie, Burrow threw for 2,688 yards with 13 TD’s and 5 interceptions.
New Pick: Joe Burrow
Burrow was just starting to get comfortable before going down with his knee injury. He showed flashes of brilliance and there’s no doubt in my mind that the Bengals would stick with Burrow in a re-draft.
