20. Peter Warrick (2000 Draft, Pick #4)
As a wide receiver and punt returner at Florida State University, Peter Warrick was arguably the best player in college football. Unfortunately, his skills didn’t translate well to the NFL game. Perhaps his underwhelming performance at workouts prior to the NFL draft should have been a warning sign to NFL teams, including the Cincinnati Bengals. Warrick ran a slower than expected time in the 40 yard dash (between 4.57 and 4.63) prior to the NFL Draft. He simply couldn’t replicate his collegiate success in the NFL.
His career highs in Cincinnati were 79 catches for 819 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2003, however, a knee injury in 2004 forced him to miss 12 games. In 2005, after just 6 NFL seasons, and 18 receiving TD’s, Warrick retired. Football fans will never forget Warrick’s dazzling highlights from his days at Florida State, but few will remember a single play from his short lived NFL career. Could Have Drafted: Jamal Lewis (#5), Brian Urlacher (#9)
