Magic Johnson will be known as Michigan State University’s most successful basketball player for many years to come, but Mateen Cleaves isn’t too far down that list. A three-time team captain, he and his teammates — who called themselves “The Flintstones” — led the Spartans to the 2000 national championship.

In 2007, he became one of eight players to have their jersey retired by the school. Cleaves played professional basketball at various levels for about 10 years, and currently serves as an analyst on the television program Inside College Basketball on CBS Sports Network.
