A couple of years before they added Earvin “Magic” Johnson to their roster, the Los Angeles Lakers had the chance to add Bernard King, one of the great wing players in NBA history, to a roster that would eventually become “the Showtime Lakers.”

Alas, in the 1977 NBA Draft, the Lakers instead took forward Ken Carr from North Carolina State, who went on to have a mostly undistinguished NBA career, while King was a two-time All-NBA First Team selection.
